Elisabetta Rampone CV
Scientist
Elisabetta Rampone got his PhD Degree in Earth Sciences in 1992 at the University of Genoa. She is Full Professor in Petrology at the University of Genoa (DISTAV). Since 2014, she is the Chief Editor of the European Journal of Mineralogy and Petrology. Her research field is petrology and geochemistry of mantle peridotites and mafic rocks from ophiolitic and orogenic settings. Her main scientific topics are melting and melt percolation in the oceanic mantle, formation of the lower oceanic crust and metamorphic evolution of the lithospheric mantle at extensional settings. She has published widely on these topics (63 articles).
The Earth Science Research Unit of the University of Genoa is recognized for expertise on field-based research on mantle peridotites and crustal rocks from ophiolites and modern oceanic settings and metamorphic hidh and ultrahigh pressure rocks and fluids.
The University of Genoa is equipped for rock preparation, mineral separation, mineral major element analysis (ESEM Tescan), fluid inclusions and tectonic modelling. The collaborative link with the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia ensures XRF facility and access to a quadrupole ICP-MS X Series II for trace element analyses and a HR-MC-ICPMS Neptune for isotopic analyses (CIGS-UNIMORE).
