Aurélien Beaumais

Passionate about geological phenomena, Aurélien completed his collegiate education at University Paris South and he received his Master degree of Volcanology in 2009. Then, he obtained PhD funding at the University of Brest to lead a geochemical study of the Vanuatu volcanic arc (major and trace elements coupled with Sr, Nd, Pb and Hf isotopes). He received his PhD in 2013 and after that, he completed a one year post-doctoral Teaching and Research Assistant position at the University of Lorraine and CRPG (Nancy, FRANCE). His research project aims to decipher dehydration processes occurring at subduction zones, using Li and B isotopes, as fluid tracers. As part of the Abyss network, he is now investigating the extent of hydrothermal water-interaction at ocean ridges using the calibration of isotopic tracers (e.g. Sr, Mg, C, H, O) through an experimental approach.
