The Department  of Geology and Mineral Resources Engineering at the Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology in Trondheim (16 professors and assistants professors, 16 PhD, 50 Masters) has broad expertise in Geosciences with programs in geology, mineral resources, petrology geology, engineering, artic geology and tunneling.

The Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology hosts a National Nanolaboratory with state-of-the-art facilities, supercomputing facilities and TEM. The Department of Geology and Mineral Resources Engineering has Electron microprobe and scanning electron microscopes, X-ray diffraction and full microscope laboratory for transmitted and reflected ligh and fluid inclusion, X-ray fluorescence/ICP. It also hosts a rocks mechanic laboratory (with SINTEF), a particle laboratory, a processing laboratory, a rock engineering laboratory, magnetics laboratory with vibrating sample magnetometers for fieldwork, hysteresis, Curie temperatures, susceptibility and density mesurements. Rock drills and magnetometers for fieldwork are also available. NTNU is partner in application for national geomagnetic laboratory in Oslo.
